Ingredients

Units Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 1/4 cup honey

For the top of the bread:

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl or stand mixer bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
  2. Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a small saucepan, heat milk and butter until the butter melts. Stir in honey and water.
  3. Mix the Dough: Combine the wet and dry ingredients. Knead the dough for 6-8 minutes with a mixer or 10 minutes by hand.
  4. First Rise: Allow the dough to double in size, about 1/2 to 1 hour.
  5. Shape the Bread: Shape the dough into a loaf and let it rise again in a bread pan.
  6. Preheat and Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Brush the top of the bread with honey and oats. Bake for 40 minutes.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing and enjoying!

Notes

  • Whole milk is recommended, but almond or coconut milk can be used as substitutes.
  • Check the dough consistency when using a stand mixer to prevent over-kneading.
  • Monitor the bread while baking to ensure even browning. Rotate the bread if needed.
