This Honey BBQ Sauce is a sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy condiment perfect for enhancing the flavor of grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or as a dipping sauce. Ingredients

Units Scale

Honey BBQ Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, add 1 cup ketchup, 1/2 cup honey, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper if using. Stir well to mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Bring to Boil: Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  3. Simmer and Thicken: Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently. Stir often to ensure it thickens evenly and does not burn. Continue simmering for 7 to 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Cool and Use: Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the Honey BBQ Sauce to cool before using it. It can be used immediately or stored for later use.

Notes

  • If you prefer a spicier kick, increase the cayenne pepper to 1/4 teaspoon.
  • Adjust honey quantity to your preferred sweetness level.
  • For a smokier flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke while simmering.
  • This sauce can be stored refrigerated in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
  • Stir the sauce before each use as some separation may occur during storage.
