Main Filling:
- 2 tablespoons oil (or butter)
- 1 pound ground lamb (or beef)
- 1 cup onion, diced
- 1 cup carrot, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (gluten-free for gluten-free)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (gluten-free for gluten-free)
- 1 teaspoon rosemary, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
- 1 teaspoon thyme, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
- 2 bay leaves (optional)
- 1 cup peas
- Salt and pepper to taste
Mashed Potatoes:
- 4 cups mashed potatoes, hot
Optional Additions:
- 4 ounces bacon
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup diced mushrooms
- 1 cup corn
Instructions
- Cook the Meat: Heat oil in a pan, cook meat until browned, set aside.
- Sauté Veggies: Cook onions and carrots until tender.
- Add Flavor: Stir in garlic, tomato paste, and flour; cook briefly.
- Make the Sauce: Add broth, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, and bay leaves; simmer until thickened.
- Finish the Dish: Remove bay leaves, add peas, season, and serve over mashed potatoes.

- You can add bacon for extra flavor.
- For added veggies, try celery, mushrooms, or corn.
