  • 1 pound ground lamb (or beef)
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 cup carrot, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (gluten-free for gluten-free)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (gluten-free for gluten-free)
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 teaspoon thyme, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
  • 2 bay leaves (optional)
  • 1 cup peas
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Mashed Potatoes:

  • 4 cups mashed potatoes, hot

Optional Additions:

  • 4 ounces bacon
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup diced mushrooms
  • 1 cup corn

Instructions

  1. Cook the Meat: Heat oil in a pan, cook meat until browned, set aside.
  2. Sauté Veggies: Cook onions and carrots until tender.
  3. Add Flavor: Stir in garlic, tomato paste, and flour; cook briefly.
  4. Make the Sauce: Add broth, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, and bay leaves; simmer until thickened.
  5. Finish the Dish: Remove bay leaves, add peas, season, and serve over mashed potatoes.
