Description

Mummy Hot Dogs are a fun and festive Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in crescent dough to look like mummies. Topped with small mustard dots to create eerie eyes, these easy-to-make treats are perfect for parties and kid-friendly celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Hot Dog Mummies

  • 1 (8-oz.) can Crescent dough
  • 3 slices American cheese
  • 12 hot dogs
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • Dijon mustard (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Prepare Crescent Dough: Separate the crescent dough into 4 rectangles, pinching together the seams if needed to make them whole. Then cut each rectangle lengthwise into thin strips for wrapping.
  3. Cut Cheese Slices: Cut each slice of American cheese into 4 thin strips to place under the hot dogs for added flavor and to help hold the dough wrapping.
  4. Assemble the Mummies: Place one hot dog on top of a strip of cheese. Using about 4 strips of crescent dough per hot dog, wrap the dough around to imitate mummy bandages. Repeat with all remaining hot dogs, cheese, and dough strips.
  5. Brush with Butter: Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet and brush them generously with melted butter to ensure a golden, shiny finish.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Add Mustard Eyes: Using a toothpick, dot Dijon mustard onto each hot dog to create the mummy’s eyes, giving them a spooky and fun finishing touch.

Notes

  • These mummy hot dogs are iconic for Halloween parties and very easy to prepare.
  • For a different twist, try using cheese string instead of American cheese.
  • You can substitute Dijon mustard eyes with small bits of olives or ketchup dots for a varied look.
  • For a crispier texture, ensure the dough strips are thin and evenly spaced when wrapping.
